About Me: Meet your Physio

I'm Sophie, a Chartered Physiotherapist. I have spent the last several years gaining experience spanning NHS settings, elite sports teams, and the demanding world of West End and touring musical theatre productions. I have learned that every case is different, from general population to elite performing and I bring a comprehensive and understanding approach to physiotherapy care.

A degree in Physiotherapy from St George's, University of London, combined with a qualification in performance coaching from Hintsa, has taught me that wellbeing and performance are not competing priorities, but mutually reinforcing foundations for sustainable wellbeing.

My practice combines rigorous clinical study with deep understanding of the real-world demands faced by performers, athletes, and active professionals. I'm passionate about personalised care that empowers clients through hands-on therapy and education.

Vocal Health

Vocal Physiotherapy: Specialist Care for Professional Voice Users

I provide laryngeal manual therapy as part of comprehensive Physiotherapy for muscle tension dysphonia, vocal fatigue, throat pain, and performance-related voice issues. Supporting West End performers, singers, teachers, and public speakers. This treatment can be used a rehabilitation for voice issues, and as an immediate preparation for a performance or speaking engagement.

Does it hurt?

The number one concern I have from voice users attending for vocal treatment, is that the treatment will be painful.

No treatment I perform for the voice should cause any pain. Throughout treatment I will check with you to ensure that you are entirely comfortable. Nothing should be done that you are unclear about, and I will explain everything before we start and as we move through the treatment.

Intra-oral Techniques

Intra-oral (or inside the mouth) techniques can be used as part of vocal physiotherapy. Understandably many people are nervous about these techniques, and may not want to do them. If this is something that worries you, please feel free to let me know and we can complete treatment without them, they are just one part of a varied combination of treatment techniques. It is very rare that I would apply these techniques during the first session (unless explicitly requested), it would be something we would discuss as a treatment option for subsequent sessions. is

Laryngeal Manual Therapy

Gentle, precise techniques targeting muscles around the voice box to release tension, reduce pain, and restore optimal vocal function.

Onward Referral

I am able to refer onwards to Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists for complex cases which may need diagnostic laryngoscopy or medical management.

Bespoke Exercise Programmes

Personalised vocal exercise plans designed to maintain healthy voice use, prevent re-injury, and support long-term vocal wellness post-treatment.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy: Healing Through Water-Based Rehabilitation

Hydrotherapy harnesses water's natural buoyancy and resistance to reduce stress on joints whilst strengthening muscles and improving cardiovascular fitness. Sessions take place in a pool, 1:1 with me, with personalised programmes designed to enhance mobility and accelerate healing.

Hydrotherapy is also useful for traumatic injuries, where weight bearing restrictions are in place. Due to the buoyancy of the water, you effectively weigh less in the water, and can complete exercises that wouldn't be possible on land.

Gentle, Effective Aquatic Therapy

The support of water create an ideal environment for gentle movement, making exercises possible that might be too painful on land.
